Biographical Details

I have served in a variety of senior executive roles in the financial, academic, legal, and non-profit sectors.  As a faculty member with Columbia University, WPI, and other institutions, I have delivered applied coursework and team-based, practice-oriented programs in community engagement, finance, FinTech, strategy, entrepreneurship, law, and economics.  

For approximately a decade, I have been a lecturer at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies in New York, NY, where I teach finance and strategy for business and professional M.S. Degree Programs.  

 

I have served both as a full-time and adjunct professor in finance since 2011 with the Foisie Business School at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, MA,, where I was the director of the Wall Street/FinTech Project Center and of the Pioneer Valley Project Center, and the faculty co-coordinator of the WPI FinTech Collaborative.  My current teaching at WPI is focused on finance and financial intelligence.

I have also been assistant dean with the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut.  At the Barney School, I facilitated multi-stakeholder community partnerships and led strategic initiatives focused on enhancing students’ academic experiences through innovative experiential and project-based learning opportunities.  I have also taught graduate and undergraduate courses in entrepreneurial finance, and I implemented the Small Business Practicum in partnership with the non-profit Upper Albany Main Street, Inc.

I have also served on the adjunct faculties of the Western New England University School of Law and College of Business (Springfield, MA) and the Elms College Division of Business (Chicopee, MA).

 

I spent 19 years with MassMutual, where I was most recently a managing director of MassMutual Capital Partners LLC. I led strategic mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, and other transactions worldwide for MassMutual and its affiliated companies. I also served in various other executive roles at MassMutual, including senior vice president & chief operating officer of MassMutual International (and regional executive for Europe & Latin America), vice president of human resources of MassMutual, and second vice president and associate general counsel of MassMutual.

I also served in an interim appointment as the president and CEO of the non-profit economic and real estate development firm DevelopSpringfield in Springfield, Massachusetts.  While there, I facilitated the firm's transition to an organization with the necessary capabilities and infrastructure to lead critical revitalization activities. I also led the multi-stakeholder strategic implementation of recovery projects related to the 2011 Springfield tornado.

I have been a member of several corporate and non-profit Boards of Directors globally, including most recently the Board of a federally chartered bank that provides retail and commercial services to businesses and individuals in Massachusetts and Connecticut.  

I received my M.B.A. jointly from New York University Stern School of Business, the London School of Economics & Political Science, and the HEC School of Management in Paris as a graduate of TRIUM, my Doctor of Law from the University of Wisconsin Law School, and my B.A. from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst
